The fastest, most beautiful coastal race in West Africa
The Cotonou International Marathon is an annual road race held in the first week of December in the beautiful coastal city of Cotonou, Benin Republic. It brings together runners of all abilities from across the world to compete in one of the most beautiful running events in West Africa.
The race begins at the iconic Monument de l'Amazone, a landmark that has become one of Cotonou's defining sights for visitors and locals alike. Runners then move through the city's clean streets and serene coastal atmosphere, passing landmarks such as the Bio Guerra Monument and the Mur du Patrimoine, the 940-metre heritage mural widely regarded as the longest graffiti wall in Africa.
Organised by MyRaceTime International Ltd through MRT Events, the marathon is built to international standards: a flat, fast, World Athletics-certified course, RFID chip timing, full medical cover, and a two-day festival format. Our aim is to make it a hallmark event for the region, attracting thousands of participants from across the world and earning attention both locally and internationally.
Fast. Flat. Unforgettable.
